“I was excited to be invited to be a part of this exhibition along with other committed artists with whom I share Japanese heritage. The extent and depth of our heritage varies quite bit. However, we all have explored what it means to ourselves and have carefully navigated between the two distinctly unique cultures in order to find who we are. Because of this experience, the resulting artwork contains remarkable variety and depth of authentic expression. The artistic choices I make regarding my Japanese heritage are usually not specific or conscious. However, after people point it out, I recognize my affinity for the fine craftsmanship in Japanese traditional arts and, more importantly, the sensitivity of expression.”

私が日本人であるということに対する芸術的選択は明確でも意識的でもありません。しかし、指摘された後に気づくものであって、日本の伝統工芸の高い品質やとくに表現の繊細さに影響されているのがわかります。
